Early flights from Leeds Bradford and Manchester: planning your transfer

Early flights are cheap and convenient, but only if the journey to the airport goes smoothly. A little planning helps.
How early to arrive
Airlines usually advise arriving two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul. At busy times, allow more.
When to leave Dewsbury or Batley
- Leeds Bradford: about 40 minutes by road, but roads near the airport can be slow, so allow extra.
- Manchester: about an hour by the M62, longer at peak times or with roadworks.
Plan backwards
- Start with the flight departure time.
- Subtract the check-in and security time.
- Subtract the drive and the drop-off queue.
- Ask the operator to arrive a few minutes early.
Book ahead
Early-morning transfers are popular on school holidays and bank holiday weekends, so book as soon as your flight is confirmed.
