Preserving the last of their perfume
Updated October 2026

If you have a bottle with a little left, a few simple steps help it last until you're ready to decide what to do.
- Keep it cool and dark: heat and light break perfume down. A drawer or cupboard away from radiators and windows is ideal. Avoid the bathroom.
- Keep it closed: air slowly changes the scent. Replace the cap every time.
- Don't top it up or mix it: keep the original as it is so a perfumer can study it.
- Don't decant unless you need to: if you do, use a clean glass vial, not plastic.
Clothing and scarves
Items that carry someone's scent fade over time. Keeping them folded in a sealed bag, in a cool dark place, can help them hold the scent for longer.
There's no rush. When you feel ready, you can send an enquiry and talk it through with a perfumer.
