A Google Business Profile is the box that appears on Google Maps and in search results with your address, phone number, opening hours, photos and reviews. It's free, and for most local businesses it brings in more calls than anything else.

Steps

  1. Search for your business on Google Maps. If it's already listed, choose "Claim this business". If not, add it.
  2. Choose the right main category, such as "Barber shop" or "Takeaway". This matters more than anything else.
  3. Verify the listing. Google may ask for a video of your premises, a phone call or a postcard.
  4. Complete every section: hours (including holidays), phone, website, services, products and a short description.
  5. Add real photos of your shop front, inside, your team and your work.
  6. Ask happy customers for reviews, and reply to every review.
