Claiming flight compensation without a booking reference
Updated 5 November 2026 · General information, not legal advice.
Quick answerYou can usually still claim. Look for the booking reference in your email confirmations, the airline app, your credit card statement or the airline's customer service. Without it, give the passenger names, flight number and date, and ask the airline to find the booking.
Where to find it
- Your booking confirmation email (search your inbox for the airline name)
- The airline's app or your account
- Your card or bank statement, to confirm the date and amount
- A travel agent, if you booked through one
If you still cannot find it
Contact the airline with the passenger names, route, flight number and date, and ask them to look it up. Then use the claim steps.
Frequently asked questions
Can I claim with just a flight number and date?
Often the airline can find the booking from the passenger names, flight number and date. Ask them directly.
