Package holiday flight delayed or cancelled: your rights

Updated 5 November 2026 · General information, not legal advice.

Quick answerIf your flight was part of a package holiday and was delayed or cancelled, you may have rights against the airline for compensation and against the holiday company under package travel rules. Keep your booking paperwork and ask the holiday company what it will do.

Two sets of rights

The flight rights (UK261) can apply to your flight even if it was part of a package. Separately, the holiday company has duties under package travel rules if the trip is changed or cancelled.

What to do

  1. Contact the holiday company and ask in writing what it offers.
  2. Keep your booking, itinerary and receipts.
  3. You can still claim flight compensation from the airline.

Frequently asked questions

Can I claim both from the airline and the holiday company?

They are different rights, so you may be able to pursue each, but you cannot be paid twice for the same loss.
