The storeroom problem
Almost every UK masjid and madrasah we speak to has the same issue. Over years, the community drops off old Qurans. Children outgrow workbooks. Prayer books get replaced. Donations arrive from bereaved families. Tafsir volumes water-damage in a leaky stockroom.
Binning is unthinkable. Burning is awkward and hard to do at scale. Driving everything to Gardens of Peace means a van, a driver, a weekday, and a postcode half the country can't reach. So the boxes stay — on the floor, under tables, in the loft — for years.
How we can help
BookBurial takes the whole pile off your hands by post or courier, and we give you one reference number and one fixed price — recorded against your organisation, not a personal name.
- One trackable parcel. Pack everything into however many boxes you need. We'll weigh them on receipt and confirm with you.
- Bulk rates apply automatically. Orders above 5 kg drop to £5 per kilo (from £8) on the weight above that threshold. A 30 kg consignment is £172 all-in, including the £7 handling fee.
- Respectful handling. Every parcel is opened carefully, inventoried, and stored off the floor in a dedicated facility until the next pooled burial.
- One pooled burial. We bury pooled consignments twice a year.
Bulk price examples
Our standard pricing is £7 per order plus £8 per kilo, with a 5 kg bulk threshold at £5 per kilo. That means:

Single-parcel cap is 50 kg. For more than that, email us and we'll split the order across multiple bookings with no duplicate handling fee.
How it works for your masjid
- Decide what's going. Anything paper — Qurans, tafsir, hadith, prayer books, du'a pamphlets, madrasa workbooks, Islamic schoolbooks, prayer timetables, Eid cards. See the full list of what we accept.
- See your price. Use the instant calculator for total weight. Don't worry about precision — we re-weigh on arrival and confirm.
- Pay online. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Invoice by request — email us at book.burial@webmatter.co.uk with your organisation details.
- Pack and post. We'll email the address. Any courier works — Royal Mail Parcelforce, Evri, DPD. Large consignments can be picked up at cost if you're on a main route.
- Receive confirmation. On arrival we email a receipt with the reference number. Keep this for your records.
- Pooled burial. Twice a year we pool consignments for burial.
Paying by invoice
We can issue a 14-day invoice instead of taking card payment up front if your masjid requires it for governance. Email book.burial@webmatter.co.uk with:
- Organisation name + registered charity number (if applicable)
- Registered address
- Approximate weight
- Contact name + phone
We'll send a PDF invoice the same working day.
What you get for your records
- An email receipt with your order reference on payment or invoice issue.
- A delivery confirmation once we receive and weigh the parcel.
These are suitable for trustee reports, annual audits, and to reassure the community that accumulated literature was handled properly.
Common questions from committees
"Can we attend the burial?"
Not at the moment, for reasons related to our partner cemeteries' arrangements. If this is a requirement for your trust, please email us before ordering so we can discuss options.
"How are the parcels stored before burial?"
Off the floor, in a dedicated indoor facility. Parcels are kept closed; contents are only inventoried for weight and to shroud the material ahead of burial.
"What if some of the pile is non-religious?"
Be conservative — send anything you're unsure about. We sort on arrival. Non-paper items (CDs, beads, prayer mats) are set aside and returned at cost if possible, never discarded without your instruction.
"Can we recommend you to families in the congregation?"
