Worn wiper blades smear, squeak and leave streaks right in your line of sight. They're one of the cheapest and easiest parts to replace yourself.
Signs they need replacing
- Streaks or smears after a wipe
- Juddering or squeaking
- Split or hardened rubber
- More than about a year old
Finding the right size
Driver and passenger blades are often different lengths, and the rear blade is usually shorter. The easiest way to get the right ones is to search by your registration on the retailer's site, or measure your old blades in millimetres.
How to fit them
- Lift the wiper arm away from the glass (put a towel on the screen in case it snaps back)
- Press the release tab and slide the old blade off the hook
- Slide the new blade on until it clicks
- Lower the arm gently and test with screenwash
Parts you'll need
Order online for delivery, or click and collect from a local GSF branch, often within the hour.
MOT tip
Wipers that don't clear the screen properly, and an empty washer bottle, can both fail an MOT.
