Kitten to Senior: Feeding Your Cat Through Life Stages

Kitten to Senior: Feeding Your Cat Through Life Stages

Your cat’s nutritional needs aren’t fixed for life. What’s perfect for a bouncing kitten isn’t right for a sleepy senior. Here’s a stage-by-stage guide.

Kittens (up to ~12 months)

Kittens grow fast and need energy- and protein-dense food, fed little and often — typically three to four small meals a day. Look for a recipe formulated for growth, and keep mealtimes consistent.

Adults (~1–7 years)

This is the maintenance phase: a complete, high-protein adult food, usually across two meals a day. The big risk here is gradual weight gain, so use the body-condition check in our feeding guide and adjust portions before extra weight creeps on. Our recipes are formulated for healthy adult cats.

Seniors (~7+ years)

Older cats may be less active and can develop dental or kidney issues, so appetite and chewing ability can change. Some seniors do better with softer textures or added wet food for hydration — see wet vs dry. Regular vet check-ups become especially valuable.

Constants at every age

  • Fresh water always available.
  • Quality protein from named meat and fish.
  • Gradual changes only — follow the 7-day switch.
  • Watch weight and behaviour, and involve your vet with any concerns.

Our 1.8kg bags suit adult cats. Explore the range or register your interest for launch.
