Feeding Multiple Cats in One Household
One cat is simple. Two or more, and mealtimes can turn into a contest. Here’s how to keep a multi-cat household fed fairly and peacefully.
Give each cat their own space
Cats prefer not to eat shoulder to shoulder. Separate bowls — ideally a little apart — reduce tension and stop one cat dominating the food.
Stop the food stealing
- Feed at set times rather than leaving food down all day.
- Supervise meals if one cat tends to bolt theirs and move on to a neighbour’s.
- Feed a fast eater and a grazer separately.
Managing different needs
Cats of different ages or sizes need different portions — see feeding through life stages and our portion guide. A kitten and a senior shouldn’t simply share one bowl.
One food, or several?
Many multi-cat homes keep things simple with one quality adult food and adjusted portions. If tastes differ, rotating flavours — like our chicken & tuna combo — keeps everyone happy without juggling brands.
