Gold print cracking or peeling on a madrasah bag

Quick fix

Printed designs on madrasah bags, such as gold mosques, domes or Arabic text, are usually heat-transfer vinyl or screen print on thin canvas. They crack when the fabric flexes and when the bag is washed. Cracking can't be reversed, but washing inside out on cold, or not at all, slows it down. If the design includes Quranic verses or the name of Allah, many families retire the bag respectfully rather than letting the print wear away.

Why it happens

Heat-transfer prints are a thin plastic film that can't stretch as the canvas flexes
Washing, especially hot, and tumble-drying break down the adhesive
Folding or crushing the bag creases the print

Slowing it down

Spot-clean instead of washing
If you must wash it: inside out, cold, gentle cycle, and air-dry
Don't iron over the print
Store the bag flat or hanging, not folded

If the design has Quranic text or Allah's name

Many people are uncomfortable letting sacred text crack, get dirty or end up in general waste. Options include keeping the bag for home use only, cutting out the printed panel and burying it respectfully, or sending it to a service such as BookBurial.
