Children often rush because they want to finish or think fast means good. Slow them down by having them point to each word, listen to a slow reciter first, and read one line at a time back to you. Praise clear reading, not speed. Tartil (measured recitation) is the goal, and speed comes naturally once reading is accurate.

  2. Listen first: play a slow recitation of the page before they read.
