GlossaryWhat is a Darul Uloom?
A Darul Uloom ("house of knowledge") is an Islamic seminary that trains students to become scholars (alims and alimahs), usually through a full-time, multi-year alimiyyah course. In the UK many are independent schools that combine the alim course with GCSEs and A-levels, and some are boarding schools.
Darul Uloom vs madrasah
A madrasah in the UK usually means a part-time evening class. A Darul Uloom is a full-time institution training scholars. See alimiyyah.
