GlossaryWhat is dawrah al-hadith?
Dawrah al-hadith is the final year of the traditional alimiyyah course, in which students read through the major hadith collections, including Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, with a teacher. It usually ends with a graduation (khatm al-Bukhari) and the award of an ijazah to narrate hadith.
What happens
Students cover large portions of the six major hadith collections in a single year, often reading for many hours a day. It's the most demanding year, and the heaviest for carrying books. See what books alim students carry.
Completion
