A ghilaf is a cloth cover or case for the Quran, used to keep the mushaf clean and protected and as a mark of respect. They range from simple drawstring pouches to zipped, padded or embroidered covers, and many families keep every Quran at home in one.
Types of Quran cover
- Drawstring pouch: simple and cheap, common for children
- Zipped case: keeps pages flat and fully enclosed
- Padded cover: extra protection when carried daily
- Leather or embroidered: decorative, often given as gifts
