What size bag fits a Quran?

Quick answer

Measure your Quran and add at least 2 cm to the width and height. Most standard Qurans used in UK madrasahs are between A5 (about 15 × 21 cm) and A4 (about 21 × 30 cm), so a bag with inside space of about 32 × 24 cm and 6 cm or more of depth fits almost any standard mushaf plus an exercise book.

Quran sizes aren't standardised, so the most reliable answer is always: measure yours. But most copies fall into a few size bands.

Sizes are approximate and vary by publisher. Thickness is usually 2–5 cm.

How to measure

Close the Quran (in its cover, if you use one).
Measure the height and width of the cover, and its thickness.
Add 2 cm to height and width so it slides in without catching.
Add the thickness of everything else that goes in: exercise book, pencil case.

Don't forget the exercise book

Most UK madrasah exercise books are A4 or slightly smaller. If your bag fits an A4 book flat, it will fit almost any madrasah Quran too — which is why we recommend an A4-capable bag even for younger children.
