Buying guideKeeping the Quran dry: waterproof madrasah bags
No everyday bag is fully waterproof, but a madrasah bag with a full-length flap over a water-resistant material (waxed canvas, treated leather or coated nylon) will keep a Quran dry in normal UK rain. For extra protection, keep the mushaf in a zipped cover inside the bag.

What matters more than material
- A flap that overhangs the opening, not a zip along the top
- A zipped Quran cover inside: the cheapest insurance
- Keeping bottles in a separate pocket, since leaks inside are more common than rain
If the Quran gets wet
Stand it upright, fanned slightly, somewhere warm but not hot, with paper towel between damp pages. If it's badly damaged, it should be disposed of respectfully; our sister service BookBurial handles this by post.

Is a leather bag waterproof?
Conditioned full-grain leather is water-resistant and handles UK showers well, but isn't fully waterproof. Let it dry naturally if soaked.
